As a professional Live-in Carer, you will provide support and meet the care needs of elderly or vulnerable people when they need help the most while also allowing them to live as independently as possible. You will work in your client’s home where they are more comfortable and relaxed. 

Our live-in care service can involve helping with cooking and cleaning, helping your client move around the house or get up in the morning, help with washing or going to the toilet and other forms of support. Most importantly, you will be there to offer companionship to your client.

Live In Carer Job Description

As a Live-in Carer, you will provide a full-time home care service for your client and support them with things such as washing, dressing and various aspects of personal care. You will meet clients who have varying degrees of dependency and care needs, which means you will be supporting them with a range of everyday activities. 

Some clients who may be experiencing memory loss or struggling with mobility can find the small tasks such as cooking and running the home increasingly difficult, so your role will be to take on these household chores to ensure the client feels safe, secure and confident in their own home.

Above all else, you will be offering your clients companionship and emotional support when they need it most. We offer a Complimentary Training package worth over £250*, this includes your induction training, which is a mix of virtual & face to face training. An additional £70 worth of funded training, plus a gift voucher once you have completed 42 days’ work’.

The Care at Home team is urgently seeking a carer for a 59-year-old lady in Somerset who suffers from advanced Alzheimer’s disease. The client can also become anxious, frustrated, lonely, disorientated, and has speech/communication difficulties. The lady requires assistance with some personal care and gentle reminders to wash and go to the toilet. Supervision with medication and toileting is required, however, the client is weight-bearing and doesn’t require assistance with mobility/transferring. The client is sociable and enjoys seeing friends for coffee, going to the cinema, enjoys art, nature, attending the theatre and galleries.

The carer we are seeking ideally needs to have experience with Alzheimer’s patients, be calm, engaging but also energetic, and able to keep the client occupied. Other duties will include cooking, shopping, housekeeping, and laundry. The client lives in a 4th floor flat and can only be accessed via stairs. There is a cat at the property and the carer will be asked to change the litter and ensure the client feeds the pet. The Care at Home Department is urgently seeking a carer for a 2-day handover in Oxfordshire for an 87-year-old lady who suffers from short-term memory loss, Lymphoedema of the legs, OCD, and pressure sores. The client requires supervision and encouragement will all elements of personal care as well as supervision of medication. The lady also needs assistance with toileting and although she is weight-bearing, a wheelchair, Zimmer frame, and a through-floor lift are in situ to aid the client. There will be night calls for this client and the lady can be left alone but must have help when moving and transferring. There are no dietary requirements, however, mealtimes can take quite a long time.

The carer we are seeking ideally needs to be experienced in this area of care, be calm, patient and understanding. Other duties will include the cleaning of the client’s room. Carers will have their own apartment in an outside building within the grounds. Please note this is a non-driving booking.

The Care at Home Department is urgently seeking a carer for a 93-year-old lady in Wales who suffers from Osteoarthritis, TIAs and has undergone a knee replacement in the past, the client also has impaired eyesight and hearing. The lady requires all personal care, especially washing and dressing plus supervision for medication. The client has very limited mobility and needs to be wheeled to the bathroom every couple of hours, she also suffers occasional incontinence which she wears pads for. The client needs assistance with transferring and there is a hospital bed and walking frame within the property. There are rarely any night calls, and the client can be left alone. The dietary requirements are simple, a low sugar diet is essential, and the lady is allergic to onions so should be avoided at all costs. The client is very talkative, so companionship is important, she also likes watching TV, loves animals, and enjoys learning about history.

The carer we’re seeking ideally needs to have experience with this type of client, is patient, calm, and understanding. Other duties will include shopping, cooking, and housekeeping. The client suffers from Parkinson’s disease and Type 2 Diabetes. The gentleman is at a very high risk of falling and often has hallucinations, as well as being disorientated and difficulty with mobility. The client requires assistance with all personal care. The gentleman needs help with toileting and wears pads at all times due to occasional accidents. The client needs help with transferring, supervision with mobility, and reminders to use his frame. The gentleman’s diet is extremely important due to Diabetes and this needs to be monitored.

The Care at Home team is urgently seeking a carer for a 92-year-old gentleman in Faversham, who suffers from depression and breakdowns, recovering from prostate cancer, blood clots in his legs and lungs, low blood pressure, Psoriasis on hips and knees, and at a high risk of falling. The client is also prone to anxiety attacks, becomes restless and confused in the afternoon, has short-term memory loss, increasingly frail, suffers from occasional pressure sores and dizzy spells. The gentleman requires assistance with all personal care including dressing and washing, supervision with medication, and toileting and has frequent incontinence. The client is weight-bearing; however, a Zimmer frame and wheelchair are in situ as he is very unsteady on his feet. The client isn’t a big eater anymore and should be encouraged to eat what he enjoys. The gentleman enjoys listening to music and watching TV, his nephew and sister-in-law also visit to spend time with him.

The Care at Home team is urgently seeking a carer for an 80-year-old gentleman in Bedfordshire who suffers from Dementia mixed with Alzheimer’s disease, the client also has short-term memory loss, is sometimes disorientated, and has difficulties with speech. There are 1–4-night calls per night as he can wander and has little sense of direction. Our Care at Home department is looking for a carer for an 82-year-old gentleman in Berkshire from 28th June. The client suffers from Alzheimer’s, reduced mobility, and can become disorientated. Although the gentleman is weight-bearing, his mobility is limited to short distances, and does not need assistance with transferring. The client enjoys classical music, cricket, watching golf and racing on the TV, and rides his horse every day.

We are looking for an experienced carer who understands the needs and requirements of a patient with Alzheimer’s. The carer also needs to like dogs as the client owns 2 (fed by the client), and a dog walker can be hired if needed. Other duties include cooking and shopping and there is an automatic car for eligible drivers.

The client suffers from a drop foot, has some mobility issues, and uses sticks to aid his movement. The client is an ex-sailor and still likes to get out on the water when possible, he also enjoys current affairs and traditional English food.

Managed Care Department Seeking 4 carers for NEW CLIENT in Wiltshire from July

HB – Daily rate £102

The Managed Care department is looking for four live-in carers for a placement in Wiltshire. Two carers covering the days and two covering a waking night. There are four separate bedrooms for each of the carers.

The client is a gentleman in his 80s who suffered a stroke earlier this year, which has subsequently affected his left side. Prior to the stroke the gentleman was living independently. He has an interest in paintings and sculptures, many of which are around his home, and he likes listening to cricket and poetry. He has a lovely, spacious property with a beautiful garden at the rear.

The gentleman requires the assistance of x2 carers at all times when transferring with a standing aid, he also requires repositioning every four hours and his skin needs close monitoring. He has experienced unsettled nights while in hospital and suffers from incontinence. The gentleman enjoys nutritious, well-cooked food, such as meat, fish, pasta, and it may be a requirement to follow a desired recipe of his. He can eat independently with his right hand, although food needs to be cut into bite-sized pieces.

The carers we are looking for should preferably have experience with stroke clients, calm, collected, patient, and are great team players. They are also happy to provide male personal care. Other duties include washing, dressing, and light cleaning. There is a visiting cleaner and gardener.

The Care at Home department requires a male carer who would like to return on a regular basis this year and next year, for a 76-year-old gentlmen near Tunbridge Wells. The client has early onset Vascular Dementia and subsequtenly has problems with balance and short-term memory loss. He requires some supervision when performing personal care duties and when administering medication. The gentleman has occasional incontinence (may need assistance with toileting) and needs help with mobility.

The client’s interests include Bridge, watching sport, theatre and enjoys havinglunch with friends.

The Care at Home Department is looking for a carer from an 83-year-old gentleman in West Sussex who suffers from Muscular Dystrophy, Prostate cancer, and TIAs. His wife also resides with him; however, she is self-caring. The client is wheelchair-bound and has no movement in arms or legs, plus poor circulation in hands and feet. The gentleman can become disorientated at times and his legs need dressings – infection control protocol should be always followed. The client needs help with all personal care including washing, bathing, showering, dressing, and shaving, as well as assistance with toileting. The gentleman has double incontinence, is unable to bear weight, and needs assistance with transferring. Within the property, there is a Gantry hoist and electric wheelchair. The client tries to be independent as possible but also needs support with feeding. The client likes to work on his computer every day and he has a great sense of humour and enjoys intelligent conversation.

The carer we are seeking ideally needs to have experience with this type of patient. Other duties include cooking, shopping, and housekeeping although there is a cleaner that comes to the property 4 times per week. There is also a cat at the property. As the job title would suggest, a Live-in Carer lives with their client in their home and provides a care service that supports them with everyday tasks such as cooking, cleaning, getting dressed and washing. Some clients are more independent than others and your work and tasks can vary depending on the client.

Yes, all of our Live-in Carers have their own room while they are on assignment. We ensure that it is suitable before assigning a Carer. 

All Carers have a face to face interview, at which we check all documentation, take professional references and process a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Enhanced Disclosure and DBS Adult First. All professional references are followed up with police checks from their country of origin.

Yes, many of our clients have favourite regular Carers and vice-versa. We try to arrange a rota of Carers wherever possible.
